sushi chef is a FOB

so my chef, my teacher, mentor, life role model, is a FOB. his english is rough around the edges. ouw. let me back track a bit. my first sushi chef left. he um disappeared one day. like he borrowed a G from this 18 year old kid and then booked it. he hasn't been heard from in several days.
anyways, the new chef can't speak english too well. we were sitting in our lil sushi station when it was slow and had a heart to heart:
he asked me, "do you like new-doo bee"
i was like, "what?"
"new-doo bee"
"uh... what?"
"you know... bee. bee itch? new-doo."
"do you mean nude beach?"
"yah! new-doo bee!"
"hahaha, uh.. yeah sure."
"i lub it. new-doo bee."
once we closed my boss, a hostess and sushi chef jay decided that they were going to a "noh-day-baang". direct translation into english is "sing room". it is a place where FOBy koreans go to sing karaoke in a little room. weird. well they made me go. (it is best not to upset men who know how to skillfully cut things with large knives. he said if i didn't go he'd kill me. yes he was joking, and yes i was still terrified.)
so i'm sitting there as the 3 of them have a blast. they sing song after song in korean. my favorite ones were the ones that were like half english and half korean. it was strange. one korean remix went a bit like this: "dair she was just walkin down the street shinging doo ra diddy diddy dum deerhee do" followed by korean rap. hahaha. it was great. i bit my tongue so not to laugh. then they tried to make me sing. i definately didn't want to. plus i don't speak korean. well this apparently wasn't a problem because they have like 15 english songs in 5, 300 page booklets of korean masterpieces.
i kept on refusing. i wouldn't even hold one of the books. they took the liberty of picking a song for me. they chose "Gangster's Paradise". i was dying. i refused to sing er.. rap so they went ahead and mumbled along through it. there are few things better in this world than hearing a FOB rap in english.
i almost forgot... sushi chef jay loves the song barbie girl. ok. back to my story.
after they got done singing we shot some pool. it was ok fun. the only reason i'm mentioning this part of the story is because i learned something new about the sushi chef. mr. sushi chef used to be a sole proprietor. he at one point in his career owned a gentleman's club in chicago, or near there. now i knew why he liked the "new-doo bee" so much. sweet. well, he then was saying how like friday or sometime this week he wanted to take me to chicago for a "new-doo pah-tea". hehe if you can't understand i'll give you a clue: pah-tea sounds a lot like party. crap i love work.

side note, this morning i talked to my roomate. these are his very first words to me after i said good morning.
"i have a pet snail."
"oh really?"
this is when he reaches up to my bed to show me what looks to be poster tack in the shape of a snail.
i was crackin up. i tell him, "nice"
he's like "they're good cuz they don't talk back or nothin"
he then sets the snail back down on his desk facing the other snail. he was so happy and proud of his new pets.
